I can't help but wonder if this should have been posted in the Community Events section so that the topic catered to those that would actually use and understand the information.
Quoted on the off chance that any of you moronic trolls posting flames as fast as you can without having a clue about what you are flaming might actually read something first. {doubtful I know but it's worth a shot}

Typical of the uninformed sad lil trolls but try to stop yourself before your next meaningless flames to be sure you actually know something about the subject you are bashing.

Mods may want to clean the trash out of this thread and move it to Events before it gets trolled more.

The "costs" here are the time involved to farm all the ingredients (some of which are a pain to get quantities of) in order to complete all the meals for the people in the dist to get the greatest reward.

Having experienced sponsored and non organized dists, I definitely know the benefits of the sponsorship and thank the guilds for doing it.

Why post this 2 months in advance instead of a 'We'll be at district X providing ingredients' post 30 minutes before the event? Self-important nonsense.

are people that retarded that they don't understand what the OP means after all these years? people have also explained it in the thread if you bothered to read it before posting. for someone who joined guru in 2007, has your head been stuck in the ground all this time?

all they're doing is saying that they will be supplying all of the required feast items so everyone in the district will get the maximum rewards.

As the guild who pretty much started the canthan new years giveaways off, we found that announcing districts ahead of time is actually counterproductive.

Each district can only hold around 150 players(according to Gaile) so if you let it be known which districts are getting all the items too quickly then they fill up too fast and you are then unable to get anyone from your own guild in there to actually give the stuff away or to announce it.

Secondly, you leave yourself open to running flame wars with other guilds who have either set up camp here as they liked the district or have done so just to steal your thunder.

Our method was to scout out for empty ish districts some 60-45 mins in advance, make sure both our runners were in place(we use 2 per district in case our main runner errors out) and then announce some 15 mins before the event.

In that time if anyone has particular claim to a district we simply go somewhere else without fuss and no one is inconvienced.

Although it's on the face of it a good idea to let people know way in advance where you will be, we found it too risky and a double edged sword.

It's a shame CNY seems to have devolved into a way for guilds and alliances to go 'look at me' rather than allow stuff to given away to others who may not neccessarily have gotten them, which was the whole reason we started it off in the first place.

In anycase good luck in your givaways and hope to see you there.

Totally agree with this. Especially if you're interested in looking after your guild + alliance first, its counterproductive to camp one district for more than 2 events in a row as people catch on and soon those you want to look after can't get in.

A thread will pop up in the communities/guild room closer to the time and get filled up with people hosting districts about 10 mins before the events (aka when they have their guildies in the district and want to give others a place to go).

This year I'll actually have to pay attention to this. It's the year of the tiger which means a mini-tiger! And that just makes me go:

How do you get the mini btw?
Being in the right district or do you actually have to do something?

Last year you did'nt get a mini unless you got lucky with the treat bags.

If it's the same as last year you dont need to do anything except hope the people in the district have all the right ingredients.

Good grief.

The first post on this page explains what's going on and the next 3 below either didn't bother or aren't able to read it.

The next time I ask a stupid question you damn well better make sure you weren't one of the total idiots to respond to this thread before you flame me for being a moron. I am keeping a list.

Last year there was a topic where people could post what district their guild would be in to give the stuff, guess it was in the events section. Which makes more sense too.
Guess that's more useful ?

Also, it's fun to see how so many people only read the first post and then go balistic on their keyboard to show how awesome they are.

Still doesn't make sense. If you go AFK, you're still in town and haven't left right?

Also, if the prize is given away automatically if you're in the right spot, you still get the maximize prize given.

Ex. Halloween...stand where the Mad King pops and you will will get ToT bags and the mask. However, you just won't get ToT bags when he ask you to participate because you're AFK and can't type in /laugh /beg /violin /agree etc...

And how do you reserve a district? Unless there is some special command /reserve blah blah blah, people will automatically get push into that district once the other district is filled up.

WOW!!! All that work....no wonder I don't waste my time gathering the ingredients and just leech off of others. The lower the district number, the more it's filled up and everyone will have all the ingredients.

For all those who didn't reserve or don't give a crap like me and not in their guild, LETS JOIN THEIR DISTRICT SO THEIR GUILD MEMBERS CAN'T GET IN!!!

Now, thats how my guild does it.

ok, A few of you know whats going on, few of you are trolling looking for attention. Let me explain this. We are Reserving the districts NOT for Personal Alliance use, we are Reserving them to Host the Feast for YOU!! the Peeps hanging in the District will be getting Gaurantee'd Presents all day/night long for the duration of the Event for just being there. We welcome all people to those districts to hang out and cash in for free because we will be doing all the work in farming ALL the items & running them to Chiefs for You to get Freebies. This Thread was made, again because other Guilds/Alliances will be hosting Districts For the Community as well, so it makes things easier to not step on others toes when it comes to hosting.

CT I know and appreciate what you are trying to do. But please read my advice post from above.

You are asking for trouble on the day by doing this.

Also as we have found year after years districts fill up with AFK'ers so if you stay in the same place all you do is fill up the inventories of people who have been there AFK for hours and not the people you are trying to help out.

Trolls don't typically seek attention; rather, they seek to get other people fighting amongst each other.

So really, you're the best troll in the thread - look at the arguments you've gotten rolling.

I guess this thread will be kept alive for 2 months so people can still read it when it becomes borderline relevant?

CT -
Last year was the first year I had Factions, and I really appreciated what so many guilds did.

I was one of the first to say this (reserving a district in advance) sounded like a cool idea. But after reading some of the comments (the ones by people who actually understand what this is all about) and giving it some more thought. I'm not so sure anymore.
Lets say people flock to district x because you posted/reserved that district, but your guildies get kicked by the network. Now the district is full, and your guys can't get back in. Everyone expects all the gifts and max fireworks but we don't get squat because you weren't there. Your guild gets the blame and a bad rep even though you really aren't at fault. What's that old adage - no good deed goes unpunished?

Shanaeri - LMAO. I added "Pike" to my list, and added that video to my favorites for future use (yet another list).

What are teh chances for that to happen? Really, lets say a guild of 50 people are hosting a district. Lets say they will plan their stuff so at any moment at least 15 of them will be online in that district at the right time for finale. What are the chances that all those 15 player getting 007 error or having connection problems?

And I guarantee that except for American/european district 1-5 and maybe InternationalDistrict 1-2, there will be no problems with full district message. Unless that guild/alliance already have enough(or maybe too many) people in that district.
